This event was held in October 2011 at The Elmbridge Club in Hainault to raise funds for Breast Cancer.
Lion President’s wife Pali requested that our club raise monies for a breast cancer machine that King George Hospital in Ilford are in much need of which would provide patients with a quality reconstruction of the breast. Mr Anthony Pittathankal, consultant surgeon and Clinical lead for Breast Services at King George together with his team made a full presentation to the club and explained why the machine is necessary and also of the need to increase awareness of the need for women to have regular checks as the current percentages are very low, particularly in the London region.
The event itself was a success and we managed to raise the £5000 required to purchase the machine. The hospital are now in the process of finalising a date for the presentation of the machine which will be made at the hospital premises in Goodmayes Ilford.
